Es simple, yo también estoy renegado por las “fiestas”. Y hace tiempo que no las disfruto.De hecho si por mi fuera no haría nada especial, pero como no vivo solo y en mi casa celebran me veo forzado a unirme. He notado algo peculiar en la conducta de la gente. Si bien probablemente sea un refugio que encontró mi mente de estas atrocidades anuales, posiblemente denote una conducta social y ciertos patrones subconscientes. La cuestión es que he notado un “modismo” en el habla, una mera cuestión semántica. La pregunta más habitual por estas fechas es… “¿dónde vas a pasar las fiestas?”. Pasar. Sí, señores. La gente habla de pasar las fiestas, en lugar de celebrarlas, festejar (aunque sería redundante), reunirse, conmemorar, galantear, etc..

Muchos ya verán el punto al que me dirijo. Si buscamos sinónimos de pasar, encontramos: franquear, cruzar, saltar, vadear, sufrir, tolerar, aguantar, filtrar, tamizar, callar, ocultar, esconder, entre otros. Si bien entre esos otros sinónimos podemos citar “transitar” creo que ninguno acarrea el verdadero significado de celebrar, festejar. Claro, como decía es una cuestión semántica. Pero todos sabemos que la gente lo dice sin mucho significado de fondo, sin pensar en lo que realmente significan sus palabras. Por eso, tal vez el significado que la mayoría de la gente pretende es el de “estar”. Ya que la respuesta esperada es el lugar físico en el que uno estará durante la noche buena, o en vísperas de año nuevo. Desde mi punto de vista, celebran muy pocos.

Como indicios de ánimo festivo pude determinar lo siguiente. Para años anteriores mis perras alrededor de las 19:00 horas, se encuentran en un estado de ansiedad y locura ocasionado por los cohetes y pirotecnia. Debido a esto, tenemos que mantenerlas dentro de la casa y a una de ellas puntualmente encerrarla en la habitación más interna de la casa con las luces en penumbra y la radio encendida para que se sienta acompañada. Este año recién alrededor de 23:50 horas las perras empezaron a sentirse levemente intimidadas con la pirotecnia y simplemente con estar bajo techo fue suficiente. De esto se desprende que la gente no encendió tantos fuegos de artificio como otros años, ya sea porque no hay dinero ni ganas de festejar, yo creo ambas. Tampoco pude ver tantas luces en los frentes de las casas, ni árboles de navidad armados como otros años. Ni la típica gente que vende pirotecnia en los semáforos o esos galpones alquilados solamente en Diciembre para vender grandes cantidades de pirotecnia.

Con respecto a mi ciudad, puedo contarles que para fin de año se hacen muñecos (algo así como las fallas en España) y se los prende fuego para limpiar lo negativo del año que se va y purificar al que entra. Siempre une a los vecinos, cada uno ayuda con lo que puede y sirve como punto de reunión, generando armonía. Todos los años se pueden ir viendo cómo se van creando los esqueletos, se les da forma, se los pinta y se los monta finalmente. Todo esto durante todo Diciembre generalmente. Este año, nada. Muy pocos muñecos y la mayoría están a medio hacer.

La realidad es que si alguna vez hubo un espíritu festivo, se apagó. La gente está perdida, sin recursos y sin espíritu. Queda el consuelo de saber que más gente festejará el año nuevo. Algo nuevamente simbólico y determinado por el hombre que en x punto comienza nuevamente la órbita terrestre, lo cual es punto de partida para otros festejos los cuales parten desde una mentira y son todos una falacia. No se preocupe, todo está mal. Pero puede estar aún peor.

Is really late, I can’t get to sleep and lately I’ve been feeling the need to write something motivated by those nights in which I’ve been arriving late homeand with some alcohol in my blood, thing not that usual in me and by the way tonight is not one of those nights.

Something that usually happens in those nights is that you feel like you could write a lot, you are full with ideas, words and sentences flow strongly through your mind and your mood is really high for it. Unlike this night when you have the need but everything feels harder in one or another way. Like many of the articles I write this will have no sense to many people at all. Something unfortuante because I like that feedback, but in cyberspace you can never know.

Have you ever read one of those articles that are deep down anonymous though signed by “some nick” of whom you don’t really know anything about but the article felt so great and suited you exactly in what you were needing to read? Well that is something that happened to me this last weekend and as I consider myself a good seeker, from time to time I experience that, eventhough there are not many great articles out there. Most amazingly, at some point you even consider seriously to write a letter to that “amateur” writer who left you with that smile and those ideas in your head thinking for all the week.

What are the questions that really matter? Did you ever stop to think why Darth Vader has a rough voice if actually nothing happend to his voice strings or lungs for that matter, he was just affected by the dark side but come on he could manipulate midiclorians I bet he could change his voice, right? Or why didn’t the machines from the matrix (AKA A.I.) build high towers with solar panels if after all the sky was clouded but those clouds weren’t so high up as Neo and Trinity flew above them, avoiding this way a war with the almost extinction of a race? Why is the sky blue if I want it to be green?

Is perhaps NP = P or maybe P != NP? Why did that friend, that you have known for two year, give you just now his email address? Why did she flirts with you and then when you are alone with her she pretends that never happened? What are the reasons that made your close friend stop talking with you? Why did that friend “push away” himself? What is the road ahead, the next move in this chess board? Why is my msn list full of crap contacts to whom I never talk, they don’t care about me, don’t know me and don’t care even about their own pathetic life? And what is with that stupid social network, huh?

I guess that which questions are more important for you can’t really be defined universally on an average pattern. Probably none of them. But what if you find in the situation where you have a good life, absolute great work you earn a lot and you are in a comfortable atmosphere, you know that eventually you will meet someone that you will get to know for a short time in contrast with that person you may even had the chance to love and know for a long time during your youth, after you will get married, have some children, keep working to raise them, get old and die? That will be one in which it is all really fixed and you will be fulfilling your routine and role in nature by the book. On the other hand, what if you could never finish your studies (or maybe you did with a lot of effort, stress and many of those), have a crapy job (or average… for that matter), in this case perhaps know someone for some more years, get married, have children (more than the previous case perhaps), work a lot harder to raise them and die sooner than the previous case. There are more cases but all of them can be seen as variations of those two.

In the first case you will have more luxuries in your life and in those scarce “free times” you will do things that give sense to your life… like go to play football with the “friends” you no longer have and brake a leg or your knee to realise that really life has passed in front of your face without you even realising all for nothing, or just for something: to realise you are old, useless and your body is taking its tolls with, catching up with you. While on the other hand, you will have potentially less free time (due to free market of course) but imagining you have still free time it will be useless, you will be busy trying to survive for your kids, trying to rest due to your illnesses, and still if you are free you won’t be busy trying to pay things and you won’t be able to have even those little luxuries that could perhaps make sense in this that society likes to call life.

This mediocre society. Yes sounds arrogant, and… isn’t it? Society has become something unbareable for men with minds and not the actual zombies. Look around you, nobody spreads love, wishes as a goal self realisation, to reach a higher spiritual level, solidarity… welcome to the very hell itself. Face it there is no other way than try to reset your self and wash all those thoughts hoping the programming will fix itself and the machine “decides” to reboot to start over with new energies (a new stack ).

So what is the point in trying? Perhaps nobody cares about this question as nobody did about the previous ones. Well and I care about getting some sleep, cause I have to sit for many tests this month, strangely my parents want, hope or/and wish for me to finish university… I don’t care anymore because I know which will be the end of the road. But due to this I won’t be around much in some time. So if great minds created difficult problems ignorance won’t solve them. As said, someone wants me to study I so will be off until a wormhole appears at my backyard.

Eter decides to die.

As well as they didn’t deal with the main subject 80 years ago, Barack Obama is promoting a reform which will help big companies and their stockholders but will not affect the group of people and families who became the kings in this economic system which has been ruling the world in the last centuries.

I’m talking about the Federal Reserve System, in Washington (USA), and the European Central Bank, in Frankfurt (Germany, EU).

I wrote the following text a year and 4 days ago, in a night of insomnia and high sadness. The original Spanish version can be found at http://turnofftharadio.blogspot.com/2008/03/catorce-14.html. I thought about translating it to English because back then I wrote it with the solely purpose of being an open letter. I wanted this open letter to fly to catch her. I have my doubts whether she ever read it or not. In first place because she didn’t understand so much Spanish (at that time as far as I know) and secondly because I think she was avoiding all means of contact with me. Maybe, and only maybe, a friend of her, who in that time read the article and knew about the both of us told her about this letter and provide her some sort of translation.

Now none of these things matter. The most probable thing is that she never read the letter. And everything that ever existed is gone, and in its the way making sure of smashing a big part of me that took me at least a year to face and start fixing. I am sorry if you don’t understand much of what this post is about, as far as I am concerned it will only be understood by Dokieh, her and me.

So, as Gregory House has thirteen I was allowed to have a fourteen, very teen.

Fourteen.

What does it bring this fourteen? -I asked-. An interesting question really, because I always had the impression it was a cranky number. Let’s see why.

It is located between 13 and 15 in natural numbers classification. Just above a prime and… ¡such a prime! Thirteen always had a very bad reputation for being the death carrier (I believe one of the worse reputations together with 666), not in vain, exists Triskaidekaphobia. Also, we have 15, “pretty girl” in games of luck. Those fifteen-year-old that always go around with the forgetful head, lots of time, trying forbidden things, having their first hangovers, walking a wrong path. Have you been contaminated my fourteen, that in games of luck your meaning is “drunkard”. But we can’t just judge the fourteen for the ones around it, can we?

Fourteen, such a difficult number to analyse. Is a composite number and deficient or defective, because the sum of its factors (1 + 2 + 7) is less than the number (14) itself. It is the third semi-prime number and the only Catalan number.

Speaking about basis and numeric notations, it is the base of tetradecimal notation, which, as far as I know, it doesn’t have any practical application. In most well known numeric notation this is its writing: binary 1110, octal 16 and hexadecimal E. Ironically, the “E” of Eternauta. In roman notation it is written XIV (that pronounced in Spanish as it is written it would be “tziv”).

In chemistry fourteen is the number of silicon. Irony again. Silicon… that silicon intimately related with computers. Without him (silicon, male), she (computer, female) wouldn’t be. Without her, he wouldn’t be as well.

In religion has its own symbolism. The fourteen steps of Station of the Cross. Fourteen fires were needed for a synagogue, 14 members of Cathars communities were needed also to make a Chapel.

Supposedly, in South American countries it brings good luck. Not to me, at least. In Chinese modern society means “deep thought”. But also has a negative connotation, for its pronunciation sounds very similar to “I wanna die”.

In tarot it means soberness. It is the number of the verses in a sonnet (Italian poetic form, my heritage, another coincidence. There poetry and rhyme go with me, not alike my self-teem).

In other cultures, February 14^th is Valentine’s day. But why not of Argentines, Celestine, clandestine, fluoxetine, guillotine, infantine, intestine, libertine, narcotine, nicotine… come on, all of them are very similar…

Personally, fourteen has me bad. In Spanish, a quincena is a period of 15 days, in English doesn’t exist such concept, instead the “fortnight” (14 days) one. One is the half of an ideal month (30 days), the other the adding of two weeks. If I think it in my language, it has been two quincenas already, but if in your language I say it, it has been two fortnights already… probably with a similar meaning… but still inaccurate.

Today, March 14^th , at almost a fortnight, added to another that comes out of borrowing a ten to fourteen, because isn’t greedy, just a bit un… how to say it… anyway, we add it. That new number we got, infinite by its own nature. Yes, the one that separates the moments in which for the X time, The Earth aligns again with the Sun in that day that received us. That number that separates us. More than thinking in terms of “infinite”, I would like to think in terms of eternal. It is a more concise word, actually, even more for ETERNAuta.

It can be strange what a 14 hides in itself. Who was capable of saying it. The only thing I want to state clearly is that my personal appreciation of 14, is the only one real and truly important to me… not the one that other “authors” pretend to “mean” on my behalf.

But as I always write to the wind, to this surreal binary sea, wandering in eternity I will remain. It is what I always do, the reason why eternity traveler I am, hoping to reach that day that I expect so much, to change it and make a better future, to revive it… I don’t know. I am afraid I am not in conditions of answering that.

Probably both of them.

El Eternauta – 18.03.2009

Like every single kind of system, it’s held up by some pillars which are essential to keep things operating. In this case, one of those pillars -maybe the most important one- performs a double function; the one we mentioned before and another one away from being some sort of column supporting a base.

This 2nd performance is however an outlet for all the bad things which happen on the building’s surface as well as they do in the upper floors. It’s the main way to hide that stuff which can not be seen by the ordinary people.

That role the pillar performs is not only a mental one, not just a metaphor, but it’s also a physical one. It links to a labyrinth where those things which must be hidden from everyone’s eyes are carried to a safe place.

Tax haven.

For a long time, those secure locations were unshakeable. Trying to penetrate in it was like if you attempted on getting in the White House to shake George Bush’s hand on September 12, 2001. Impossible is nothing, though this seemed to be.

This place we’re focusing on was built, of course, by that people who ruled the world and protected by those who are now in control. Yet, it’s odd we’re talking about “security” when the flag of this “movement” is just the opposite of that one which represents health and charity.

This one was the scenery before, more than a year ago, the word crisis came on stage; a word which, apart from meaning something which could not be good, brings nouns like change or chance when it appears.

There was only one man who got over the widespread psychosis and could discern on that opportunity which was there, flying in the air. Being trained by those who built that inaccessible and forbidden place, he used that behavior they gave him to access to that area and take everything away.

The modus operandi was complex but rewarding. He told the powerful ones to give him those ‘bad things’ and he would give it back to them -of course, with a bonus in return for the provided help- after a meaningful period of time.

He was smartest than the brightest kids of the classroom. He used that stuff they lent him to raise another building similar to the one with which his ‘shareholders’ were monitoring everything that happened in the world. Following his teachers methods, he constructed a maze which looked like the original one, but which turned out to be a faster way to get to the point.

50,000 millions of dollars.

He came into the impenetrable stronghold and took everything away. Then they got him under arrest but it didn’t matter; he had already won. They captured him but their possessions were not on show. He had hidden then like they taught him to do, swindling them in the same way as they do with millions of people everyday.

Now those powerful men are looking forward to retrieve that money he stole them, but they don’t want to demolish the building and look for their properties in the rubble. So they have to make a choice: they could lose all their cash, taking into account that they would be under a lot of pressure and that they would be even forced to take it back, or they could instead destroy the ‘perfect’ system which was set up by them and with which controlled the world for years and centuries.

Along the years their inhabitants suffered from several tragic episodes. When it wasn’t the fall of one of the biggest empires, was the participation in a global war in the old earth. This can be explained somehow by the fact that Bootland, as its own name says, twists the mind of some of its citizens, making them believe that boots should become part of their uniform, of their way of life. This “mean of transport” used by militars and policemen: boots. All of them wear boots as a lifestyle.

As stated above, many of them became twisted and started wearing them. However, one wore a magic pair. It was of an, until then believed, extinct brand… Michellini Mussgolini. A guy named Bendito, was the one who found it and from very the moment he tried them, the magic boots possesed him. Thus, making him the leader of Bootland. Soon Bootland was sunk in a hard struggle between the ones who found in Bendito a leader and the ones who didn’t want to wear boots but instead preferred sandals. Meanwhile, Bendito kept making new friends and the global mess started. The sandals lovers, had to run for their life, scape from their land, condemned to exile.

Soon after, many of them arrived to Southland, particularly to a country called Argentinland. In all Southland they were well received, found peace, work, food, shelter. We have to say that most of them who arrived to Argentinland were the ones who run away; meaning that in Bootland, mainly remained the Bendito ideology ones. Years passed; still many of them keep living in Southland, where they found a home and a family. Though, a considerable amount of them also have family and relatives in Bootland. But as we said years passed, and peace in Bootland is beginning to crumble again. It seems that there is a new leader who might have found the lost pair of once Bendito’s boots. The heir of the trone.

El Eternauta – 22.02.2009

Our last attempt was not a very good one in terms of production. Now we think we tried to cover too many things. Yet we believe this new project will be more successful as we will try to focus on defined things.

At the same time we will try to print and leave a different style on this pages. Thus trying to make people feel closer to the random, casual and daily stories that we will post. Those ones that could happen to someone you know or even you.

We also decided to make a full fresh start, leaving behind our other “(haunted) house” because it wouldn’t be nice to feel haunted by old ghosts that might be there. We also hope that they don’t follow us to our new house.

We hope you feel comfortable here. Of course you are invited. There is room for everybody.
